André Amaral

André Amaral (Porto, 1997), studied Audiovisual Communication at Escola Artística de Soares dos Reis. In 2016, he entered in Escola Superior Artística do Porto (ESAP), finishing his degree in Cinema and Audiovisual, 2019. Since 2012 he has tried to improve his technical and aesthetic qualities in cinematography of several short films, music videos, photography projects, among others, in a responsible and quality way.

As DoP, he participated in the short films "No Fim do Mar" (2018), "José" (2019) and "Principe" (2019), all directed by João Monteiro with support from the ICA - Instituto do Cinema e Audiovisual and ESAP. The films have been screened worldwide gaining nominations for best student film, best cinematography, best director and many others in multiple prestigious venues like the Sophia Awards organised by Academia Portuguesa de Cinema, Curtas Vila do Conde International Film Festival (PT), FEST: New Films New Directors Film Festival (PT), Caminhos do Cinema Português (PT), New Orleans LGBTQ+ Film Festival (USA), Oaxaca FilmFest (MEX) and most recently at CINEMQ+ in Shanghai (CHN).

Right now, André is working as a freelancer videographer in different companies, accepting different commissions in video, video edition and photography.
